Course Outline
Business Objects - Advanced Reporting
Hands-on training in an instructor-led environment. One workstation per delegate
and exercises to consolidate learning.
Training Method:
Users of Business Objects who can build simple queries,create a document, format a
report and create a chart., or having attended out Introduction to Business Objects
training course.
Prerequisites:
One day
Duration:
Delegates will learn how to create complex queries, query contexts, built-in functions other than the
normal ‘SUM’, ‘year on year’ comparisons, multiple data sources and using various user functions.

Experienced users of Business Objects who wish to create complex queries, query
contexts, functions and multiple data sources.

Using features to provide information that will be
impossible with a single query

Module 2: Query Contexts
Using features with variables to calculate values
which have different levels within the report
Input contexts

Module 3: Functions
Using many of the built-in functions to create
totals and values other than the normal “SUM”
Strings - Split values into more than one cell or
combine two values together
Rolling totals/averages
Ranking values

Module 4: If.... Then.... Else....
Produce values based on the condition of other values
Group values into user-de?ned bands
Module 5: Compare Data Using the ‘Where’
Operator
Show ‘Year on Year’ comparisons
Module 6: Multiple Data Sources
Create reports using more than one data source, such
as a spreadsheet and a business objects table
Do not display results that have unmatched data
Module 7: Miscellaneous
Using various User functions to display on reports
Saving reports for Excel and keeping the format
